Ferrari 458 Challenge snapped on the track

Updated

Ferrari has unveiled new photos of the new 458 Challenge testing on the track at Vallelunga.

The track car is a lower, lighter version of the standard 458 and is built to compete in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli. The racer uses the same 562bhp 4.5-litre V8 as the road car, but modifications to the gearing, suspension and brakes mean that it laps the manufacturer's Fiorano test circuit 2 seconds quicker.

Maurizio Mediani and Jamie Melo were the Ferrari test drivers behind the wheel at Vallelunga, and both pronounced themselves pleased with the car. Mediani described the Challenge as "very quick and extremely good fun." We bet it is.
