Goodwood Festival of Speed: McLaren makes an impression

Updated

One of the reasons Autoblog showed up to the festival early was to cast our critical eye over some of the new metal on show.

Foremost among these is the new Mclaren MP4-12C. The British supercar is on public display for the first time, on a surprisingly understated stand. That didn't put the early birds off though – the burnt orange show car was surrounded almost from moment the gates opened.

In our eyes, the F1's successor deserves the kudos being heaped on it by the crowd. There have been rumblings in the industry that the car isn't revolutionary enough, but it's impossible to study the MP4-12C's open chassis without shaking your head in awe at the engineering perfection of that carbon fibre tub.
