VW jumps on the iPad bandwagon

Just hours after the latest offering from Apple has been unwrapped by the slightly dirty hands of those camping outside the brand's flagship store, a car manufacturer has released something to tie in with the new gadget.

Volkswagen has produced a digital magazine as an application, or app, for the iPad - Apple's new tablet-style gizmo. The magazine is called Digital Automotive Space, or DAS, and will be published four times a year and in five different languages.

Pretty much every car manufacturer has acknowledged the rise of the iPod and the mobile music player by including connections to their stereo systems, so it was inevitable that the iPad would be used in some way too.

DAS is an online magazine that will also be available on the normal internet at the end of June.
