Thanks to its status as the premiere testing ground for real world pace and handling, manufacturers have become obsessed with their lap times around the Nurburgring's Nordschleife circuit.
An ultra-quick time is a badge of honour for any supercar, but a lap record is considered the equivalent of marketing gold. It should be of no surprise to anyone then that Ferrari wasted little time in posting this video of its 599XX track car cracking a sub 7 minute lap.
Of course 6 min 58 sec is not sufficient to topple the British-built Radicals from the top of the leaderboard, but the Italian firm neatly sidestepped that issue by proclaiming the 599XX a production-derived sports car and claiming the subsequent record.
