Porsche commits to 918

Porsche is committed to building the 918 Spyder according to reports.

The car, which caused a stir at the Geneva motor show last week, has evolved from drawing board to the full show car in just five months and demonstrates how high performance cars can improved CO2 emissions and better fuel economy by using plug-in hybrid technology.

The 918 Spyder features a 500bhp petrol V8 engine combined with two electric motors to give a total power output of 718bhp. Although the car is yet to be fully confirmed by Porsche, the firm has said that the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the car has helped to sway opinions within the company.
