Toyota admits 2010 Prius brake fault

Updated

Toyota has admitted it has received several complaints relating to the brakes in the current generation of the 2010 Toyota Prius.

Customers in North America and Japan have reported inconsistent brake feel when the brakes are slowly applied, however the firm states that "Toyota's investigation into the reported problems did not find that vehicle safety was compromised".

With mounting concerns over the safety of Toyota cars the firm has released a statement confirming that there have been no reported brake faults in the UK or Europe.

It comes just days after the firm had to recall eight million vehicles worldwide, costing the firm £1.26 billion. Of those, 180,000 affected are thought to be British. However, UK owners may have to wait up to a week longer for cars to be fixed.
