Twitter rumours almost convinced the world that Johnny Depp had died in a car crash today.
A mocked-up CNN news page was uploaded buy an unknown web-geek prankster, claiming the actor's body had been found in his wrecked SUV on a rural road in France.
Even though the page was created back in 2004, it was only noticed this week and soon went viral, with thousands tweeting 'RIP Johnny Depp'. Sky News confirmed that the page was in fact a hoax, and that the picture of the crash comes from a used-car buying website in New Zealand.
Just another example of the power of social media, we guess.
