Outsider view: Coupé for old codgers?

It's a well-known fact that Mercedes-Benz are not blessed with the youngest customer base. Despite their best efforts over recent years to pep up their palette, too many a Merc seems to reek of old hats on the parcel shelf. The coupé models in particular have become synonymous with portly old gentlemen bearing equally well padded wallets. The new E-Class Coupe with its sporty, dynamic styling is intended to break this vicious circle and attract a younger age bracket. Will it succeed or will the old hats on the parcel shelf simply be replaced by new golf caps? After all, today's OAPs are very much into sport.
