BOYS' SOCCER: Rock Creek claims 1st sectional title

Oct. 7—SEYMOUR — Rock Creek captured its first-ever sectional title Saturday.

The No. 18 Lions defeated Henryville 5-1 in the Class A Trinity Lutheran Sectional final.

R.J. Upchurch and Eli Benitos had two goals apiece, while Tyler Sieckert had the other for unbeaten Rock Creek.

The Lions (16-0-2) will visit Southwestern (13-5-1) at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening in a regional semifinal. The Rebels clipped the host Eagles 5-0 in the the Jac-Cen-Del Sectional final Saturday.

Hayden Barbour converted a penalty kick in the second half for the Hornets' lone goal.

Henryville ends its season with a 10-7-2 record — a seven-win improvement from last year.
