Anthea Turner fractures foot after tripping while rushing for a cab
Anthea Turner has said she was in “total agony” after tripping and fracturing her foot while she was rushing for a cab.
The TV presenter told fans on Instagram that she had hailed a taxi to take her to a Pink Ribbon Foundation clothing launch in Soho, then as she hurried to jump in she tripped on a dropped curb and twisted her foot.
The injury got more and more painful so the star later headed to the hospital where she discovered she had fractured her fifth metatarsal.
Sharing a string of pictures of her eventful day, Turner, 61, wrote: “So, yesterday didn’t work out as expected.”
The star - who is engaged to her partner Mark Armstrong - went on: “Just after I took this picture outside Fenwick’s hailed a black cab, but rushing to get in tripped on a dropped curb twisting my foot, immediately it started to hurt and by the time I arrived @martinezbarlondon where the shoot was taking place, was in total agony.
“So after posing around decided to go home via Chelsea and Westminster A&E, actually on the insistence of Mark and another Black Cab Knight of the road - now wearing funny boot and resting my fractured 5th metatarsal in bag of ice taking painkillers every 4 hours wearing my @cellreturn.uk face mask on my foot, because I’ve read infrared light helps with bone healing and of course moaning."
The TV star said her injury will take four to six weeks to mend, and apologised for the “dodgy footwear” she would be sporting at her next public appearance.
Turner also praised the hospital staff who took care of her, saying they were “simply amazing”.
Plenty of fans flocked to the comments section to wish the presenter a speedy recovery.
“I did the same thing in April - you need to rest it a lot but it will get better, just takes time!” said one.
“Oh no!” posted another. “Glad they fixed you up and hopefully you will mend quickly and not in too much discomfort. At least you can still function even with a big shoe!”
