VW, Porsche and Audi extend warranties by three months

Volkswagen, Porsche and Audi have extended their vehicle warranties by three months for free in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

It covers all vehicles with warranty coverage set to expire between March 1, 2020, and May 31, 2020. The extension is valid for three months after the original new car or extended warranty expires.

Porsche’s allowance also applies to warranties which start between March 1, 2020 and May 31, 2020.

Daniel Schukraft, Head of Aftersales at Porsche AG, said: “Our ultimate aim is to create enthusiasm among our customers – this includes providing outstanding services particularly in difficult times.

“We have therefore decided to implement a uniform and unbureaucratic solution worldwide. Customers do not have to do anything, the Porsche Centres will take into account the extension automatically.”

The measures are being introduced so that people who aren’t able to visit a dealership to have their car serviced or repaired under warranty aren’t unfairly penalised.

Horst Hanschur, Vice President of Retail Business Development and Customer Services at Audi, said: “We are reaching out to our customers in these trying times and are enabling more flexibility in order to organise visits to Audi dealerships”

“Many of our dealer partners worldwide are still closed or just in the process of opening their doors again. We are therefore making adjustments in a number of areas in order to ensure our customers still have a premium experience with the Audi brand, as well as to ensure the future of our dealerships.”
