Newborn named 'Sanitizer' amid coronavirus outbreak

A couple in India has reportedly named their newborn 'Sanitizer' in light of the coronavirus outbreak.

According to Newsweek the family in India wanted the gesture to be seen as a "contribution" to the fight against the virus as it serves as reminder of one of the best ways to protect oneself against contract infection.

"Everyone is fighting against the virus...from our prime minister to ordinary people. This [name] is our contribution," Singh told the Deccan Herald.

The father, Omveer Singh, who lives in in Uttar Pradesh, further noted he hoped people would remember lessons learned from the pandemic whenever his son's name is brought up.

"Sanitizer is one of the best ways to protect oneself against contracting coronavirus infection," Singh said. "We will remember this period whenever we utter his name."
