This is the world's highest settlement
The highest permanent settlement in the world is located three miles above sea level in the Peruvian Andes mountains.
La Rinconada was established as a temporary gold mining site over 40 years ago.
The town does now have electricity, but still lacks a sanitation system and other permanent services.
While there is no limit to the amount of gold each miner can take, spending any length of time at the site does come with some severe health hazards.
