This is the terrifying moment a swan smashes into a driver's windscreen, and causes quite a bit of damage.

Emily Keady, 21, from Holyfields, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne was on her way to work when she had the run-in with the bird last month.

The collision was met by screams of terror from the dog walker and cries of 'Oh my God' from her partner in the passenger seat.

Despite shattering the windscreen, the swan was said to have been unharmed by the smash and waddled off around the village.

Emily's dad Andrew Keady, 56, said: "She was pretty shaken up but she was more concerned about the swan."

"You do usually see the swans in a nearby park but we've never seen anything like that."

"It was just walking up and down the street by time I got there. It didn't seemed at all bothered."

"We got in contact with the RSPCB and RSPCA but they said there was nothing they could really do."

"If it was up walking about pretending like nothing had happened then I suppose it was alright."

"It didn't do too much in the way of damage. She was able to replace the windscreen the next day."
