Nissan knocks £1,650 off Leaf pricing ahead of Christmas

Nissan has reduced pricing of its 40kWh Leaf models just in time for Christmas.

A discount of £1,650 has been applied to all trim levels of the lowest capacity motor for the electric car, with prices now starting at £26,345 in Acenta grade after the government plug-in car grant (PICG).

Mid-range N-Connecta variants are now available from £27,645 after the PICG, while range-topping Tekna now comes in under £30,000 with a £29,345 asking price following the grant. The changes to pricing do not affect the longer-range Nissan Leaf e+ however, which remains at £35,895 after the grant.

Alongside a revision to its pricing, Nissan has made some small changes to the equipment levels of the electric car. Two rear USB ports now feature across the range, while a cornering function has been introduced to its LED fog lights — a cost option on Tekna grade and included in N-Connecta.

Nic Verneuil, Nissan Motors GB marketing director, said: “Nissan is always improving the competitiveness of its vehicles, ensuring customers enjoy a better buying and ownership experience.

“We’ve not only secured additional factory production to make Leaf more accessible but as a result we’ve also been able to significantly lower the price tag of the car in market, making it more affordable. If customers are ready to make the switch, they shouldn’t have to wait to get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle.”
