Sewage worker unwittingly rescues a venomous snake

A Thames water engineer in the UK spotted a snake in a sewer and decided to pick it up with his bare hands and carry the creature to safety.

He later discovered he performed an especially brave act as the snake is a venomous and aggressive type called a false cobra.

The RSPCA workers who came to get it were quite shocked as they were expecting something completely harmless.

How it got in the sewer and where it came from are unknown at this time.

The snake is currently being looked after at a specialist facility while the owners is sought.
