Strictly Come Dancing star Michelle Visage has dismissed “upsetting” reports that she is unhappy on the show.

The 51-year-old RuPaul's Drag Race judge and her professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice competed in the dance-off on last week’s show and were saved by the judges’ vote. The Sun newspaper reported that Visage was unhappy on the BBC dance series and been clashing with Pernice.

Visage hit back on on Twitter saying: “The articles about my partner and I have been upsetting. If anyone knows us, you know how close Giovanni and I are.

“Gio is my best friend in this competition, he is my rock and I trust him with everything. We have the most fun and laughs together and to suggest otherwise is just sad.”

Pernice, 29, replied: “Darling .. you have been quite popular this week in the papers .. they don’t know what to say anymore.”

The pair have consistently been awarded high scores by the Strictly judges, including a score of 39 out of 40 for their Foxtrot in Halloween week to the Addams Family theme tune.

Last week they scored 36 for their American Smooth, but the viewers’ vote landed them in the bottom two, forced to compete in a dance-off against sports presenter Mike Bushell and his partner Katya Jones.

Visage previously admitted she and Pernice do sometimes clash in rehearsals.

She said: “We’re both Italian. We’re both intense. We’re both Virgos. So there’s a perfectionist level that’s really ridiculous between us. He wants it quicker than I’m able to provide it.

“So Mondays and Tuesdays is a lot of us at each other’s throats. By the end of the week, we’re totally in love with each other again and it’s fine.

“I’ve never walked out. We just like to fight. We like to fight it out, but it’s just that’s all in love. Our relationship is very fiery. It is weird, but it’s perfect.”
