Meghan Markle was 'nervous' about meeting Beyoncé at Lion King premiere

Royal fans went wild when the Duchess of Sussex and Beyoncé finally met at The Lion King premiere.

The royal embraced the American singer, as they chatted about Meghan and Harry’s newborn son Archie and swapped parenting advice.

Royal commentator Omid Scobie tells Yahoo UK’s ‘The Royal Box,’ that there was a “little nervousness” between them.

“Considering they’re two very confident women, they seemed a little shy of each other and I asked someone before Meghan arrived ‘Is she nervous?’ They were like ‘A little bit, but mostly excited.’”

Before she became a royal, former actress Meghan appeared to profess her love for the Destiny’s Child singer on her now defunct Instagram account.

She posted a photo of her posing in front of a brick wall, with a bottle of hot sauce sticking out of her bag, with the caption “The closest I will ever come to channeling Beyoncé,” and the hashtag “hotsauceinmybagswag.”

Then in February this year, Beyoncé and Jay Z paid tribute to the duchess, who was pregnant at the time, during their Brit Awards acceptance for Best International Duo.

An Instagram post showed the couple standing in front of a portrait of Meghan wearing a crown, including in the caption: “In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy.[sic]”

Scobie adds: “Despite the fact that Jay Z and Beyonce had made this nod to Meghan during their Brit Awards acceptance, there’s never been any correspondence between them before, nothing, so this really was the first moment and I’m sure this will be the first of many.”
