Gangs of travellers set up illegal camp in ground

A gang of travellers have invaded a sprawling hotel and country park famous for Capability Brown gardens.

Around 20 caravans towed by a fleet of 4x4s and vans descended onto Coombe Country Park near Coventry. The site also includes the historic Coombe Abbey hotel, developed from a Grade I-listed building and former country house.

The travellers are parked up on the "events field" on the left hand side of the entrance drive. Park goer David Locke, 50, spotted the travellers when he took his daughter to Go Ape inside the park on Saturday afternoon.
