Camilla meets Splash the horse at Clarence House
The Duchess of Cornwall invited a horse to her home as she hosted a reception at Clarence House.
Splash, a 10-year-old cob belonging to the Ebony Horse Club, was among Camilla’s guests.
The event was held for supporters and beneficiaries of the community riding centre in Brixton, south London, which teaches riding and horse care.
It aims to help children learn new skills, develop aspirations and take on new responsibilities.
Camilla, who distracted Splash with a carrot when it decided to nibble the Clarence House lawn, called for an Ebony Horse Club to be set up in every major city.
The duchess said as she thanked the supporters: “Here it is now going from strength to strength.”
She added: “The only thing is we now need an Ebony Horse Club in every major city.”
This year, the club has provided 1,700 rides to 110 riders per week.
Camilla became president of the club in 2009.
