'Prince Harry envied Prince William for so long'

Prince Harry envied his older brother Prince William for a long time, according to Princess Diana’s former butler.

And it was all to do with having a family apparently.

William and Kate Middleton married in 2011 and had their first child Prince George two years later. Their second baby Princess Charlotte was born in 2015, followed by Prince Louis in 2018.

Paul Burrell tells Yahoo UK’s ‘The Royal Box:’ “I think for a long time that Harry has looked at his brother and envied him and thought ‘I’d like some of that, I’d like a nice family around me.’

“And now he has it, so it’s the beginning of the future for Harry.”

It’s no secret that Harry has always longed for a wife and a family of his own.

He said in a 2012 interview with Katie Couric for ABC News: “I’ve longed for kids since I was very, very young. I’m waiting to find the right person and someone who’s willing to take on the job.”

During an interview with Sky News in 2015, Harry was also asked whether he’d like to settle down and have kids, he responded: “I don’t think you can force these things, you know, it will happen when it’s gonna happen.

“Of course I would love to have kids right now but, there’s a process that one has to go through. And you know, tours like this is great fun.

“Hopefully I’m doing alright by myself, it would be great to have someone else next to me to sort of share the pressure but, you know, the time will come. Whatever happens happens, I guess.”

Royal biographer Duncan Larcombe previously told ‘The Royal Box,’ “I think Harry has been a dad all his life, now he’s actually got a son, I don’t think it will actually change him that much.

“I think he’s just been waiting to have a child because of that playful side, he is like a big kid a lot of the time.”

The duke has had some sweet moments with youngsters over the years, including with two-year-old Hayley Henson who couldn’t resist taking a handful of his popcorn at the Invictus Games 2017 and five-year-old Luke Vincent, who tugged on his beard in Dubbo during his and Meghan’s royal tour of Australia.
