Elvis Presley may have been dead for more than 40 years, but his legacy and looks live on in grandson Benjamin.
Fans of rock and roll star, who died in 1977, were astonished when the singer’s daughter Lisa Marie Presley shared a rare photo of herself with her four children. The 51-year-old tweeted a photo of Riley Keough, 30, Benjamin Keough, 26, and her twin daughters Harper and Finley Lockwood, 10, with the caption, ‘Mama Lion with cubs’.
They’re a charming brood, but Elvis fans with suspicious minds think Benjamin looks like The King reincarnated. With his dark hair, perfectly straight nose, and smoky, brooding eyes, he could easily pass as Elvis impersonator.
‘Your son is the image of your dad, lovely family photo,’ replied one of Lisa Marie’s followers on Twitter.
‘That boy looks just like Elvis!😳,’ said another.
‘He looks a lot like his grandfather WOW!!’ added Elvis fan Martin van de Ree.
The uncanny resemblance has been occasionally remarked on over the years, but despite being a musician and the spitting image of his grandfather, Benjamin remains a fiercely private figure.
The 26-year-old appeared in the Elvis by the Presleys documentary in 2005 and as a delivery man in a 2018 short. He makes the odd appearance on his mother’s social media accounts and attended the 2017 vigil in Graceland for the 40th anniversary of Elvis’s death.
Benjamin’s sister Riley is a successful actor in her own right, appearing in Mad Max: Fury Road, Magic Mike, and Logan Lucky.
Lisa Marie Presley, born in 1968, is the only child of Elvis Presley and actress Priscilla Presley, and the sole heir to her father's estate. Another singer-songwriter, she has been married and divorced four times, with high-profile marriages to Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage.
Riley and Benjamin are the children of her first husband Danny Keough, who she divorced in 1994.
Lisa Marie married pop singer Michael Jackson 20 days after her divorce, appearing in the music video for his 1995 single You are not alone. Citing irreconcilable differences, Lisa Marie filed for divorce from Jackson in January 1996.
She married Nicolas Cage on August 10, 2002. Cage filed for divorce on November 25, 2002, and the divorce was finalised in 2004.
Her twins Finley and Harper were born in 2008, two years after Lisa Marie married their father, record producer Michael Dean Lockwood.
In 2016, Lisa Marie filed for divorce from Lockwood. A year later, she said her twin daughters had been taken into protective custody by the Department of Child and Family Services. Court documents revealed that she had opposed Lockwood's request for spousal support by claiming she found disturbing photos and videos of children on his computer.
Lockwood strongly rejected Lisa Marie’s claims. "I am disgusted that (she) described unproven allegations about me…in a declaration that she filed in this court’s publicly accessible records," he said in the legal documents.
Love me Tender: Who are Elvis’s grandkids?
Riley and Benjamin didn’t have an entirely privileged upbringing despite their famous roots, with father Danny Keough sleeping on mattresses on the floors of cabins and trailer parks.
Their parents renewed their friendship after Michael Jackson’s death, with Lisa Marie calling Danny her ‘best friend’ and her ex living in a guesthouse on her property. His younger brother was a witness at her wedding to Jackson.
Musician Benjamin inherited his grandfather’s talent, performing his mother’s 2012 hit, Storm & Grace, here.
Model and actress Riley is a regular collaborator with Steven Soderburgh, appearing in Magic Mike, Logan Lucky and The Girlfriend Experience series.
She also appeared in Mad Max: Fury Road, marrying stunt man Ben Smith-Petersen in 2015 in Napa Valley after they met on set.
Lisa Marie recently opened up about how she became addicted to painkillers after they were prescribed following the birth of Benjamin and Riley’s half-sisters Harper and Finlay in October 2008.
Benjamin appeared with Lisa Marie and the twins at the Graceland vigil marking the 40th anniversary of Elvis’s death in August 2017.
