Pensioners robbed of jewellery and cash as three men raid home

Two pensioners have been left “shaken” after several men broke into a house and stole jewellery and cash.

Police believe three men forced their way into the rural property near Cargenbridge, Dumfries and Galloway, at around 1.30am on Friday.

An 89-year-old woman and a 69-year-old woman were in the home at the time and although they were uninjured, police say they were left shaken as a result.

Detective Inspector Dean Little said “This type of crime is rare for Dumfries and Galloway and a team of detectives are now working on the case with a view of catching those responsible.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone that saw three men dressed in black in or around the area of Cargenbridge or Garden Wise on Castle Douglas Road during the early hours of this morning.

“Likewise we would be keen to hear about any strange vehicles which might have been seen entering or leaving, or even parked up in the area.”
