Nicolas Cage's shortest marriage is now at an end.

The screen legend wed make-up artist Erika Koike in Las Vegas in March, but only four days later he filed court papers seeking a divorce.

Cage was initially hoping to annul to proceedings, according to papers seen by TMZ, but according to reports, Koike objected.

So instead, Cage was forced to file for divorce, and it's now been finalised after being approved by a Nevada state judge.

The wedding was a swiftly organised affair, the couple only applying for a marriage license on the day of their nuptials, after just less than a year of courtship.

But reports suggested that the couple were seen arguing just hours before heading down the aisle.

It was Cage's fourth wedding in all.

He married True Romance star Patricia Arquette in 1995, lasting six years before they parted ways in 2001.

Cage then married Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley, one of his idols, in 2002.

They split in 2004, after which he married Alice Kim, a former waitress, with whom he had a son, Kal-El, now 13.

He split with Kim in 2016.
