There’s nothing more frustrating than throwing out your favourite pair of shoes just because you can’t quite tackle the muddy stain from winter ‘09.

But all is not lost, as a now-viral cleaning hack is here to save you some dosh.

Back in 2018, Kiera O’Hagen discovered that micellar water - a popular beauty product designed to remove make-up - can be used to clean suede.

The tip has become so popular, that it’s resurfaced on the Internet and people still can’t stop talking about it.

In the tweet, O’Hagan shared before and after photographs of her go-to heels alongside the caption: “Micellar water has just taken all the stains out of my suede heels. Everyone needs to try this.”

After amassing over 35,000 likes, fellow social media users began to share their results after trialling the hack with many combatting stains on their favourite heels and trainers:

According to the tweets, it’s best to use Garnier Micellar Water which typically retails from £1 and is probably already sitting on your bathroom shelf.

O’Hagen recommends wiping the stain with a cotton pad, as it won’t be too aggressive on delicate suede.
