Catherine Tyldesley hits back at claims she criticised soap over work schedule

Catherine Tyldesley has hit back at the reports that she criticised Coronation Street over the cast’s work schedule.

Tyldesley, who played the role of Eva Price until her exit in 2018, was quoted by the Daily Star for saying that the cast members had to work long hours to accommodate for the amount of episodes.

As a result, she revealed that her work load didn’t leave time for much else.

“I was 7am to 7pm every day at Corrie. Those are moments in your life you never get back.

“I love spending more time with my little boy now,” the publication reported her saying.

Another outlet claimed that Tyldesley had all but confirmed that she would never return to the soap.

Having noticed the story, the actress took to her Twitter account to set the record straight.

Insisting that she had always spoken highly of the soap, Tyldesley told her fans and followers: “Utter rubbish - I didn’t ever say that - I’ve always spoken of Corrie fondly and said I’d love to go back?!?!”

“I had the happiest of times there and have NEVER said a bad word against it. Please check facts. Kind Regards,” she continued to comment.

Speculation about whether or not the Coronation Street cast are happy has been rife ever since a number of the soap’s stars announced they were leaving.

Kym Marsh, Tristan Gemmill, Faye Brookes, Katie McGlynn and Lucy Fallon will all be departing the soap over the next year.

Following her announcement, Fallon insisted that her decision to leave had nothing to do with anyone on the show.

“I have made the extremely difficult decision to leave Coronation Street at the end of my contract in 2020. It’s hard to put into words how much this show means to me. I’ve made lifelong friends with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry, I’ve had some terrific and immensely important storylines and I’ve laughed with the best people everyday,” she shared.

“I’m so thankful to Iain [MacLeod, producer] and everyone at Coronation Street, I owe everything to them and I will miss them greatly.”
