William to attend Wembley Stadium mental health campaign launch

Updated

The Duke of Cambridge will attend the launch of a new campaign which uses football to get more people – particularly men – talking about mental health.

William will meet grassroots football players, coaches and fans from clubs across the country at Wembley Stadium.

The duke, president of the Football Association (FA), is also due to deliver a speech.

The initiative will support work already taking place across the UK to end stigma around mental health.

Earlier this month, he joined England manager Gareth Southgate and footballers Peter Crouch, Thierry Henry, Danny Rose and Jermaine Jenas in a locker room to discuss men’s mental health.

The conversation saw the group share issues they have struggled with in their careers.

Filmed at the grounds of Cambridge United Football Club and presented by Dan Walker, the BBC documentary will air on Sunday.
