Guests at a royal garden party at Buckingham Palace and racegoers at York had perfect conditions to savour the spectacle.

Sunlovers made their way to beaches and parks to top up their tans but for those animals forced by mother nature to wear fur coats, thoughtful zoo staff had provided some ice treats.
