Elephant Man's unmarked grave discovered

The unmarked grave of Joseph Merrick - who is better known as the Elephant Man - has been located after nearly 130 years, it has been claimed.

Merrick had a skeletal and soft tissue deformity which saw him as a freak show attraction, then a medical curiosity.

His skeleton was preserved by the Royal London Hospital, where it remains to this day.

This grave that's been found contains the "soft tissue" of the man.

Author Jo Vigor-Mungovin tracked the fleshy remnants of Merrick to the City of London Cemetery, by analysing records of the time of his death.
