Susanna Reid has opened up about splitting from her millionaire boyfriend after Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan grilled her about it live on air.

The TV presenter had been dating Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish for nine months, but over the weekend her spokesperson confirmed that the romance was finished – despite them being pictured together at a match.

Wasting no time in making his co-star uncomfortable after a few weeks’ break from the show, Morgan, who was back on screen on Monday morning, asked her: “Are you single again? You are, aren’t you?”

Reid admitted: “Yep. Let’s not dwell. I’m fine, we’re fine, we’re very good friends. We were at the match on Saturday.

“These things happen, right? We remain friends. Very good friends.”

GMB star Reid then skilfully deflected the attention back onto Arsenal fan Morgan by pointing out his team’s run of bad form over recent matches.

She said: “You had an interesting match over the weekend. In fact, you’ve had three.”

Reid and Parish had been close friends for a long time before their relationship began, and the TV host will be hoping things stay on good terms ahead of her Soccer Aid appearance this summer.

She and Morgan are going head to head as the managers of the rival celebrity sides in the Unicef charity match, so any football expertise her ex can offer will be welcome.

Reid has three sons with her former partner of 16 years Dominic Cotton, who she split with in 2014 shortly after taking part in the 2013 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
