Police appeal after two-car crash left pensioner badly hurt

Police are appealing for information after a collision between two cars in Aberdeenshire left a 77-year-old woman with serious injuries.

The incident, which took place at around 9.20 am on Saturday, involved a grey Citroen C1 and a silver Rover 75 estate.

The vehicles were on the A90 Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road, near to a junction with the A952 at Cortes, when they collided.

A 77-year-old woman, who was driving the Citroen, was injured and taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where she remains in a serious condition, while the driver of the Rover was uninjured.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “‘Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the A90 Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road at its junction with the A952 at Cortes, Aberdeenshire.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw either car beforehand is urged to contact Police Scotland.”
