Falling power lines crush car

Remarkable footage released by a police department in Seattle shows the moment several power lines collapsed in the city, trapping two people in a car and causing thousands of Seattle residents to lose power.

Two people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a dramatic rescue, according to the police.

In a post on Facebook, police said the live wires made it impossible for emergency services to reach people trapped in the vehicle until the power was shut off.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
