Tiger Roll wins successive Grand Nationals

Tiger Roll, trained by Gordon Elliott and ridden by Davy Russell, has won the Randox Health Grand National at Aintree.

The horse rewrote the Grand National history books and emulated Red Rum with an emphatic victory.

Elliott's diminutive hero took over going to the last and easily kept the rest at bay, with Jessica Harrington's mare Magic Of Light his nearest pursuer at odds of 66-1.

Russell did not have to get serious on the long run-in as the 4-1 favourite came home in front for the second year running – the first to do so since the second of Red Rum's three victories in 1974.

Behind him and Magic Of Light, Rathvinden was third and Walk In The Mill fourth.
