Lily Collins lands the lead role in Sex and the City creator's Paris drama

Lily Collins, daughter of English musician Phil Collins, has won the title role in Emily in Paris, the half-hour dramedy from Sex and the City creator Darren Star. Collins will also serve as a producer on the series, which is set to begin shooting in Paris.

Created and written by Star, Emily In Paris centres on Emily (Collins), a driven twenty-something American woman from the Midwest, who moves to Paris for an unexpected job opportunity, tasked with bringing an American point of view to a venerable French marketing firm. Cultures clash as she adjusts to the challenges of life in a foreign city, while juggling her career, new friendships and love life.

"I've always been fascinated by the expat experience," said Star. "I can't think of anyone better to bring this beautiful world to life than Lily Collins."

Collins called the opportunity to star in a TV series created by Star and produce it with him and the Paramount Network "a real 'pinch me' moment." "All of Darren's shows have deeply defined, greatly impacted, and undeniably helped me navigate my journey into womanhood," she said. "I couldn't imagine a more inspiring city to be our Emily in Paris home than Paris. What an absolute dream project!"

Collins is currently shooting Inheritance, a thriller feature starring Simon Pegg and directed by Vaughn Stein. She also can be seen in BBC's Les Misérables, the upcoming Ted Bundy thriller Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, and Tolkien, set for release in May.
