Girl, 8, threatens to stab policeman 'in the heart' at North Yorkshire school
An eight-year-old girl took a deadly kitchen knife into her primary school and then told a police officer she would ‘stab him in the heart’.
The school class was evacuated and police were called when she produced the knife which had a five-inch long blade at the school in Knaresborough, North Yorks.
The unnamed schoolgirl made threats to teachers and attending police officers.
Police Community Support Officer, Matt Murphy, who attended the scene, wrote on Twitter: ‘A week of action to tackle knife crime was launched by @NYorksPolice.

It is the latest revelation about soaring knife crime in the UK.
‘Only last week an 8 year old took this knife into school and made threats.
‘When I arrived the child told me they would stab me in the heart.
‘So this week we are educating people around the dangers of knives.’
In a statement released by North Yorkshire Police, they confirmed the youngster was now ‘receiving support’.
The statement said: ‘Police attended a primary school in the Harrogate District on 18 February after an eight-year-old girl produced a kitchen knife in class.
‘The class was evacuated and the police were called.

‘During the incident the girl made threats to the attending officers and teaching staff.
‘The incident was brought to a safe conclusion and no-one was injured and the knife recovered. The girl is now receiving appropriate support.’
The new from North Yorkshire police came as it was revealed that the criminal justice system dealt with the highest number of knife offences in nearly a decade last year.
In 2018, 21,484 knife and offensive weapon offences were recorded, the highest number dealt with since 2009.
