Fantastic ways people have crossed the English Channel

In 1785, Jean-Pierre Blanchard and John Jeffries completed the first successful crossing of the Channel in a balloon. Blanchard and Jeffries became international sensations after completing the feat.

Scuba divers from North Yorkshire cross the Channel on submerged sea scooters in 2011. The four divers from Scarborough Sub Aqua Club crossed the body of water 5m (16.4ft) below the water's surface.
