Woman sought after mobile phone stolen by bogus good Samaritan

Detectives investigating the theft of a mobile phone from a woman who had suffered a seizure have issued an appeal for information.

British Transport Police (BTP) issued a CCTV image of a woman who officers believe may have information to help their inquiries into the offence near Birmingham’s Selly Oak railway station.

The victim, aged in her 20s, suffered a seizure outside the station on February 17 and another woman, posing as a good Samaritan, came over to help.

The woman then took the phone from the victim’s pocket and put it in her own, police said.

Anyone who recognises the woman in the CCTV images is urged to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
