Woman who died after car hit tree named by police

A woman who died after a car left the road and hit a tree has been named by police.

Anne Marie MacDonald, 62, was the front-seat passenger in a black BMW 320d which was travelling west on the A87 when the crash happened on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the scene after the car left the road near Kyle of Lochalsh and hit a tree shortly before 5.20pm.

Mrs MacDonald, from Portree on the Isle of Skye, died at the scene.

The 64-year-old male driver suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Road Policing Sergeant Alasdair Mackay said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mrs MacDonald at this difficult time.

“Our investigation into the collision is ongoing and I would like to pass on our gratitude to everyone who has already assisted with our inquiries.

“I would ask anyone who has information of value but has not yet spoken to an officer to come forward as soon as possible.”
