Strictly's Gorka Marquez and actress Gemma Atkinson announce they are expecting first child

Strictly’s Gorka Marquez, 28, and actress Gemma Atkinson, 34, have announced they are expecting their first child.

The couple, who met in 2017 while both competing on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, announced the big news on their Instagram accounts with a picture of their two dogs Norm and Ollie.

Atkinson wrote: “And what Amazing big brothers they will be! Myself & Gorks are beyond excited and happy and feel incredibly blessed to be meeting our new family member later this year. Baby Marquez!!! We love you loads already”

One of their dogs is wearing a sign that says ‘Guess what…Mum’s pregnant!’ while the other pooch wears a sign that says ‘We’re going to be big brothers!’

Marquez posted the same image to his own Instagram account along with the caption: “Thank you for the greatest gift in life. Myself and Gem are beyond thrilled to be welcoming our new family member later this year! Baby Marquez. Norm and ollie can’t wait to start their big brother duties.”

Rumours sparked of their romance just weeks into 2017’s Strictly Come Dancing. But the couple initially denied their relationship.

However, during their 2018 Strictly tour they finally confirmed their romance on Valentine’s Day no less. Marquez promptly moved in with Atkinson in Manchester, where she hosts the Hits Radio Breakfast Show.

Earlier this week Atkinson revealed on Lorraine that her teenage nickname was ‘thunder thighs.’

However, Marquez said that this was what initially attracted him to the former Hollyoaks actress.

“Maybe because I’m Spanish I just want a curvy woman,” he said.
