What happens to your body when you're cold

For many of us cold weather is unpleasant but prolonged exposure to the cold can be deadly. For this reason our body responds in a number of ways when we are cold.

You'll often notice your hands and feet are much, much colder than the rest of your body. That's because of reduced blood flow. Blood vessels constrict the amount that flows to your outer regions and instead redirects it internally.
