Police have confirmed the body of a man pulled from water in Edinburgh is that of William Scott.
The 90-year-old was reported missing from the Chesser area of the city on December 11.
He was last seen in the Foot of the Walk pub in Leith at 3.45pm, and in Greggs in the Kirkgate Centre at 4pm.
He was found on Friday January 4 in the Water of Leith near to Victoria Bridge at Leith Docks.
The discovery was made by officers with police dogs, who cordoned off the area to recover the body with the help of firefighters.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is to be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Chief Inspector Jordana Emerson, area commander for south-west Edinburgh, said: “William’s family has shown considerable bravery and composure throughout this harrowing time and our thoughts are with them as they come to terms with their loss.
“I would like to thank those members of the public and media who assisted in our search, their support was very much appreciated.
“We are supporting William’s family and will continue to work with them and offer assistance as required.”
