Sophie Turner calls Piers Morgan a 't**t' over mental health claims

Piers Morgan is embroiled in yet another Twitter spat, and this time it is with Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner.

After Coronation Streetactress Beverley Callard, who has openly discussed her struggles with depression for years, claimed that celebrities are trying to make mental health issues 'fashionable' – the Good Morning Britain presenter responded in agreement.

Morgan wrote: 'She'll be hammered for saying this, but it's 100% true.'

Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in GOT, criticised his response by arguing that celebrities can provide a platform for mental health discussion.

The 22-year-old actress wrote: 'Or maybe they have a platform to speak out about it and help get rid of the stigma of mental illness which affects 1 in 4 people in UK per year. But please go ahead and shun them back into silence. T**t.'

And Morgan, who's well-known for getting into heated twitter wars with various celebrities, couldn't seem to help himself from mockingly replying to Turner's response.

The former Daily Mirror editor wrote: 'Hi Sophie, please don't abuse me like this – it's harmful to my mental health. Thanks.'

While Turner didn't directly respond to his goading, she did post a string of additional tweets regarding mental health.

And Morgan again responded, by accusing her of 'foul-mouthed abuse' and asked her 'Do you think abusing people helps their mental health, Ms Turner?'

Several celebrities have come out in support of Turner's claims. Gossip blogger Perez Hilton praised Turner's words, to which Morgan fired back by saying he doesn't care what a 'woefully unqualified C-list celebrity' thinks of him.

Meanwhile Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain wrote a response to his initial reaction to Callard's claim with: 'You haven't got a clue.'
