Police hunt thugs who set three vehicles on fire

Police are hunting thugs who set fire to two trucks and a van in a “targeted and dangerous attack” which caused thousands of pounds of damage.

The suspects parked outside a business premises in Abercorn Street, Paisley, at around 10.20pm on Monday, broke the lock to a yard and set fire to a truck inside.

They then set fire to a truck and a van that were parked on the street, before making off in the same dark-coloured vehicle in which they had arrived.

Police are appealing for information about the incident in the Renfrewshire town.

Detective Constable Dass of Paisley CID said: “This was a targeted and dangerous attack causing a six-figure sum of damage. Fire-raising is an incredibly reckless act and it will not be tolerated.

“We are appealing for anyone who was within the area last night who may have information that can help us identify those responsible.

“Think back, did you see this dark-coloured vehicle, or could you have dash-cam footage that can help us?

“We would also ask anybody who may have seen anyone filling up a jerry can at a petrol station nearby on Monday to also get in touch.”
