Five must-see TV highlights for the week ahead

Statham and co

The festive season is upon us, and brings with it some of the best TV of the year. This week, TalkTalk TV is practically bursting with top programmes from both sides of the Atlantic, nail-biting Premier League games and blockbuster films. Here are our recommendations:

1. Live Premier League and Championship football - all week on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Football

December is dripping with first-class football fixtures, this week kicks off with West Brom v Brentford at 8pm on Monday in the Sky Bet Championship (Sky Sports Football), then on Friday the Baggies are back in live action against their local rivals. West Brom v Aston Villa kicks off at 8pm on Friday. Sky Sports Premier League has live top flight action with Bournemouth v Liverpool at 12.30pm on Saturday, then the following day Newcastle United v Wolverhampton Wanderers kick off at 4pm on Sunday on the same channel.

If that wasn't enough live sport, Sky Sports channels will also have live NFL and NBA from the USA, golf from the South African Open, the latest PDC darts and there's even the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping. Something for everyone!

If Sky Sports is not currently part of your TalkTalk TV package, you can add the flexible Sky Sports Boost, a month at a time, giving you access to eight Sky Sports channels. There's no long-term commitment and they're easy to add through your TV box. There's also the opportunity to buy a ringside view of the biggest boxing clashes via Sky Sports Box Office. Watch the world's best sporting action - live!

2. The Meg - Available to Own now on TalkTalk TV

You can now Own this shark-tastic action thriller starring Jason Statham via your TalkTalk TV box or online.

After escaping an attack by what he claims was a giant shark several year before, Jonas Taylor (Statham) is recruited to save a team of scientists trapped in a sunken submersible. And, wouldn't you know it, a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon has re-emerged to terrorise both them and everything else in the ocean! This was on of the summer's biggest hits and is well worth a watch when you want some big, dumb fun on a lazy evening.

3. Marvel's Runaways - New series - On Demand on TalkTalk TV

From the man behind 'Gossip Girl' and 'The OC', this Marvel series features six teenagers who realise that their parents have been lying to them for their entire lives and are, in fact, super-villains! The unlikely group of youths band together, escaping from their homes, and set out to discover the secrets of their origins.

If you miss this, learn how you can still watch it via catch-up On Demand. Plus TV customers can set the whole series up to record at the touch of a button.

If the ABC boxset collection is not currently part of your TalkTalk TV package, you can add the Entertainment or TV Select Boost, a month at a time. There's no long-term commitment and they're easy to add through your TV box.

4. Live PD - Fridays at 9pm on Crime & Investigation

The conduct of American police officers is a hot topic Stateside, so this unfettered and unfiltered look at what life is like for US cops is a fascinating watch. Thrilling, gripping and sometimes even funny, the show features everything from routine traffic stops to high-speed chases, bar fights to gang shootings, domestic disputes to drug busts.
