CCTV captures woman brutally beaten at cash machine

A brutal attack on a woman being robbed at a cash machine in the middle of the day has been caught on camera.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police have appealed for information after the victim was attacked on Leytonstone Road, Newham at around 3pm on November 28.

CCTV footage from the scene shows the victim, in her early 40s, being hit and slapped repeatedly by another woman, before the money she had just withdrawn was stolen.

Before the suspect fled, the victim pulled what appears to be a wig from her attacker’s head. The suspect is described as black, and is thought to be in her late teens.

The images show that at least three people walked past the incident and did not appear to stop.

Despite the frenzied attack, the victim emerged unharmed, and police have appealed to the public for their help in tracing the suspect.

Detective Inspector Steve Bluemore said: “This was a shocking attack in broad daylight and we know a number of people were passing at the time.

“I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or who recognises the suspect to contact police immediately.”
