CCTV shows West Midlands yobs throw lit fireworks into busy pub

This astounding footage shows the moment a group of hooded youths burst into a Smethwick pub and tossed lit fireworks inside.

Police have released the CCTV footage in a quest to identify the perpetrators of the attack that took place on Halloween (Oct 31).

The video shows a quartet of young adults run through the entrance before hurling fireworks and a traffic cone inside.

Fortunately, no-one was hurt during the incident but thousands of pounds worth of damage was done when the fireworks exploded.

PC Sohaib Bin-Tariq, who is investigating the incident, has appealed for anyone with information to come forward, he told Birmingham Live: "Throwing fireworks in this manner is not a fun prank, it can result in serious injury or even death.

"Just last year a firework was lit in the hallway of a house in Tile Cross, Birmingham, killing Anthony Nicholls and seriously injuring a 50-year-old woman ; and it's only sheer luck that no one was injured at The Shireland.

"We've launched an appeal for information and I know that someone out there knows exactly who carried out this totally irresponsible and dangerous stunt.

"I'm appealing directly to those people, and urge them to come forward."
