Five must-see TV highlights for the week ahead

Mars 2

A pair of popular shows return for their second series this week, while one of the year's best family films is available to Own on TalkTalk TV. Here are our recommendations:

1. Mars - New series - Sundays at 9pm on Nat Geo

This ultra realistic sci-fi series delves into the friction between science and industry on Mars in the near future and asks if we're doomed to repeat the same mistakes when earthlings become Martians.

Now the Daedalus astronauts have built a full-fledged colony called Olympus Town, the second series explores the impact that humans have on the Red Planet and vice versa.

If you miss this, learn how you can still watch it via catch-up On Demand. Plus TV customers can set the whole series up to record at the touch of a button.

If Nat Geo is not currently part of your TalkTalk TV package, you can add the Entertainment or TV Select Boost, a month at a time. There's no long-term commitment and they're easy to add through your TV box.

2. The Sinner - new series - Available from Friday on Netflix

Despite Jessica Biel's character not returning after the first season, which used up the source material from the original book, the second series of this crime thriller has been met with critical acclaim in the US. After almost 15 years, detective Harry Ambrose returns to his hometown of Keller, in upstate New York, to investigate the lethal poisoning of a couple at a motel. Here, he partners with Heather Novack, an old acquaintance's daughter who has just qualified as a detective.

TalkTalk customers can access Netflix though your TalkTalk TV Box. Find out how to do this here

3. Chelsea v Everton and Man City v Man Utd - Sunday from 2:15pm on Sky Sports Premier League

In the early afternoon on Sunday, title challengers Chelsea take on Everton at Stamford Bridge with Ross Barkley looking to continue his fine form against his former club. However, this is just the appetiser to the main match of the day when the two Manchester giants clash at the Etihad. Can Jose Mourinho inspire his beleaguered squad to get one over on their cross town rivals? Or will Pep's men heap more pressure on the Red Devils' coach with another defeat?

If Sky Sports is not currently part of your TalkTalk TV package, you can add the flexible Sky Sports Boost, a month at a time, giving you access to eight Sky Sports channels. There's no long-term commitment and they're easy to add through your TV box. There's also the opportunity to buy a ringside view of the biggest boxing clashes via Sky Sports Box Office. Watch the world's best sporting action - live!

4. The Little Drummer Girl - Sundays at 9pm on BBC One

This John Le Carre adaptation set in 1970s Germany is directed by the stylish Park Chan Wook. When a bomb goes off in the diplomatic quarter of Bonn, a senior Israeli intelligence agent arrives to investigate after a series of similarly deadly attacks targeting prominent Jewish figures across Europe. Meanwhile, a fiery and brilliant British actress finds herself drawn into a dangerous international espionage operation after she encounters a mysterious stranger on the beach while in Greece.

If you miss this, learn how you can still watch it via catch-up On Demand. Plus TV customers can set the whole series up to record at the touch of a button.

If Sky One is not currently part of your TalkTalk TV package, you can add the Entertainment or TV Select Boost, a month at a time. There's no long-term commitment and they're easy to add through your TV box.

5. The Incredibles 2 - Available Own on TalkTalk TV from Monday

You can now Rent or Own this animated superhero movie via your TalkTalk TV box or online.

Things have changed a lot for the Parr family since we last met them - Helen, AKA Elastigirl, has been given the responsibility of saving the public, leaving Bob at home with Violet and Dash to navigate the day-to-day heroics of 'normal' life. It's a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family are still unaware of baby Jack-Jack's emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone must find a way to work together again - which is easier said than done, even when they're all Incredible.

Purchase The Incredibles 2 to Own from £9.95 on TalkTalk TV for a chance to win a goodie bag from the film!
