Couple return home to find three robbers in property

A couple returned home to find their house had been completely ransacked by three men who were still in the property.

The trio had smashed the back window to get into the house in Kirkcaldy Road in the Pollokshields area of Glasgow.

They fled the scene when the man and woman who lived there returned home at around 8.20pm on Thursday evening.

The suspects escaped in a white Ford Fiesta driven by a man who had been waiting in it outside.

The car made a U-turn in the middle of the street, blocking at least two cars driving on the road, and headed in the direction of Springkell Avenue.

When the couple looked round their home they discovered it had been completely ransacked and a three-figure sum of money had been stolen.

Police are appealing for information about the incident.

Detective Constable Marc Stirling said: “This is a busy residential area and there would have been pedestrians and motorists in the vicinity at the time of the incident.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have noticed a white Ford Fiesta parked outside a property in Kirkcaldy Road at the junction with Carberry Road, or anything at all suspicious, to get in touch.

“I would also ask any motorists with dashcams who were in the area to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance to the investigation.

“In particular I would like to speak to the drivers of the two vehicles that were stopped on Kirkcaldy Road by the getaway car doing a U-turn.”
