Man charged with assaulting footballer during game

A football fan has been arrested over the alleged assault of a Hearts player during a match with Aberdeen.

Defender Jimmy Dunne was allegedly struck by an object from the away support section during the game at Tynecastle Park in Edinburgh on Saturday.

Police said a 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged over the incident and will appear in court at a later date.

Hearts won the match 2-1 to remain top of the Scottish Premiership table.
