Resourceful neighbours use JCB to hold down roof during Storm Ali

Locals in west Galway came up with an inventive solution to secure the roof of a B&B that looked like it might blow off in high winds as Storm Ali buffeted Ireland and Britain on September 19.

The group arranged for a JCB excavator to come and place its bucket on top of the building, holding the buckling roof of Renvyle's Castle House B&B in place.

Meanwhile, on an A road near Brampton in Cumbria high-sided vehicles were having trouble staying upright in the high winds, as you can see below:
